There are three distinct seasons:
• Winter: the cold weather
• Summer: the hot weather and
• Monsoon: the rains.
Winter:-
Winter sets in beginning of November and lasts till end of February. Temperature in and around Pachmarhi plateau is generally 5 to 6 degree lower than the plains. Winter in Pachmarhi is too cold and temperature as low as 1 deg C has been recorded. The cold season is generally bright and cloudless. There are, however some light showers of rains in earlier part of this season, which is beneficial to Rabi crop, especially wheat.
Summer:-
Summer starts from March and remains till the end of June. Like other areas of Central India Summer is intensely dry and hot. The temperature in and around Pachmarhi Plateau is generally moderate. Temperature in Narmadapuram has been as high as 45 deg Celsius and may wary.
Monsoon:-
The monsoon arrives approximately by the end of June and continues till September and October. The average rainfall of Narmadapurm district is 1300mm. Rainfall in Pachmarhi is much higher than rest of district, averaging around 1700mm.
Temperature and rainfall were recorded by the forest department at Bori till 1941-42. For unknown reason this practice was stopped. Earlier data shows that Bori valley was receiving more rainfall than Pachmarhi.
Frost:-
Frost occurs very frequently along the valleys of the rivers Bori, Denwa, Tawa, Nagdwari, Sonbhadra and their tributaries. There are some notable bad spots in the area e.g. Frost hole of Harrapala maidan where frost is experienced practically every year.
